On August 20th, the skies above Budapest came alive with the roar of jet engines and Helicopters. They presented Hungary's finest aerial units. This grand demonstration by the Magyar Légierő (Hungarian Air Force) marked a spectacular celebration of Foundation Day, one of the most significant national holidays in Hungary.
The event took place over the scenic Danube River, where iconic views of Budapest's Parliament and Buda Castle provided a breathtaking backdrop to the air show. As thousands gathered along the riverbanks.
Foundation Day (or St. Stephen’s Day) commemorates the foundation of the Hungarian state by its first king, St. Stephen, in 1000 AD. It is a time of deep national pride, celebrated with parades, cultural events, and, of course, an impressive military presence. Each year, the highlight of the day remains the air force's demonstration, showcasing Hungary’s aerial capabilities while honoring its rich history.

Helicopters, including the H145M, H225M and Mi-35, were also part of the demonstration, showcasing the versatility and strength of the air force’s rotary-wing fleet. The coordinated simulation featuring the H145M highlighted the operational readiness of the Hungarian forces, impressing both locals and visitors.
